Dwarves and Giants on the islands of Prehistoric Greece
Museum of Paleontology and Geology NKUoADescription
One might say that a hedgehog in the size of a dog and an elephant that is hardly taller than us humans are creatures that can only jump out of the pages of a fairytale… Yet these animals – and other, even stranger ones – once existed and they even lived on the islands of Greece! What made these animals change their size so dramatically? What is the role of an island’s environment in developing these adaptations? Are there such animals today and if so, where do they live? What can they tell us on the process of evolution and the protection of the environment? The answers to these and many more questions are given at the live programme of the Museum of Paleontology and Geology NKUoA, entitled “Dwarves and Giants on the islands of Prehistoric Greece”. Come join us on a paleontological journey around the islands of Greece and in Cyprus and discover the fascinating world of island endemism!
Note: The program is offered per class of a maximum of 30 students
